Some Facts about the High-Level Group on Agro-food Competitiveness

European Commission Vice-President Verheugen set up a High Level Group on the Competitiveness of the Agro-Food Industry [19 KB] composed mainly of representatives of selected Member States, the European Community agro-food industry, of professional associations and of civil society. Vice-President Verheugen is leading this exercise together with his fellow Commissioners Mariann Fischer Boel, Meglena Kuneva and Androula Vassiliou.

High-Level Group on Agro-food adopts Roadmap for actions

The members of the High-Level Group on Agro-food competitiveness meeting at the European Commission agreed on the 6^th July the Roadmap of actions to improve the industry’s competitiveness.

COP 15 - European metalworkers on the road from Copenhagen

For the European Metalworkers Federation climate change is a dangerous reality which demands a social response at international as well as European, national and regional/local and company levels. We believe that a drive towards new industrial strategies based on low carbon technologies and products can offer opportunities but also challenges for the future of industrial workplaces in Europe.

EFFAT's view on sustainable development

Sustainable development seeks to "meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” in the sense of balance between economic, social and environmental elements. Still, increasingly rapid global changes, from the melting of the icecaps to growing energy and resource demand, are challenging this objective.
