EFFAT joins the 2010 against poverty campaign
The Charter against precarious work, adopted by the 3rd EFFAT Congress on 20-21 October 2009 in Berlin, is a central document for EFFAT, particularly this year when the fight against poverty is at the top of the European agenda: The European Commission declared 2010 as the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.
"Almost 80 million Europeans live at risk of poverty, which means they face insecurity, and go without what most people often take for granted." The number of people facing poverty is increasing, and even having work is not a safeguard any more against social exclusion, as a growing number of jobs are marginalized and do not allow workers to earn a wage they can live on.
Therefore, EFFAT actively supports the European campaign and, by implementing its Charter against precarious work, will contribute to the fight against poverty and social exclusion.
