Climate change: An opportunity for social cooperation
ETUI Conference, 29-30 March 2011 in Brussels
The objective of the conference is to provide a forum for discussion of European and industrial sustainable climate policy actions. Cooperation between environmental and social actors is required to broaden the approach to climate change policies.
The conference is divided into three parts:
First, experts will give insight into carbon markets and green taxation as instruments to combat climate change and develop a green and sustainable economy.
Second, representatives of the European Commission and the European Parliament will give an overview of implementation of EU climate and sustainable development policies. Speakers from various industrial sectors will present their strategic approaches and innovation aimed at achieving sustainability in different sectors.
The third part of the conference will highlight the need to foster alliances between environmental and social actors as an integrated response to climate change. Cooperation and inclusive approaches are fundamental to improvement of human and environmental conditions.
EMF policy adviser Judith Kirton-Darling will speak on the topic energy intensive industries.
